Alluvium collects only the information necessary to provide you with a personalised financial tracking experience. This includes account registration details (name, email address), financial journal entries and expense logs you choose to record, usage data to improve app performance, and device information for security purposes. We do not collect your bank credentials or link directly to financial institutions.
How We Use Your Information
Your data is used exclusively to power your Alluvium experience. Specifically: to authenticate your account and keep it secure, to display your personal financial journals and expense history, to calculate habit streaks and progress metrics, and to improve app features based on anonymised, aggregated usage patterns. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.
Data Privacy & Encryption
Your journal entries and expense logs are private by default and encrypted in transit and at rest. Only you can access this content unless you explicitly choose to publish it as a public blog post. Alluvium staff cannot read your private journal entries. We employ industry-standard security practices including TLS encryption, secure authentication tokens, and regular security audits.
Public Content
If you choose to publish content (blog posts, images, or videos) through the Alluvium platform, that content becomes publicly accessible. You retain ownership of all content you create. By publishing, you grant Alluvium a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display and distribute your content within the platform. You may delete or unpublish your content at any time.
Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by applicable law. Anonymised, aggregated data may be retained indefinitely for product improvement purposes.
Your Rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you. You may request a full export of your data at any time from within the app settings. To exercise any of these rights or to raise a privacy concern, contact us at info@alluvium.co.za and we will respond within 14 business days.
Cookies & Tracking
Alluvium uses essential cookies to maintain your authenticated session. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking. We may use anonymised analytics to understand aggregate usage patterns — this data cannot be used to identify you individually.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will notify you via email and in-app notification at least 14 days before changes take effect. Continued use of Alluvium after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
